So first they whine about how dogs are a menace; pay the papers to tarnish the image of our Indian Streeties; pay them more to blame street dogs of Kerala for bite cases that involved pet dogs of big breeds, ill-treated, chained and kept in cages, and then abandoned, hungry, abused and ferocious!
Then comes the Dog Welfare Committee, formed by these very same people who have been continuously provoking the public, instilling in them the fear of dogs, spreading mass hatred to the extent that the public and leaders of wards, panchayats, municipalities and corporations resort to brutal murder of dogs all over Kerala (in the name of rabies!).
The pioneers is turning an entire State against street dogs, Mr Kouchouseph and his dear friend Jose Maveli, with the support of an IPS officer, former Justice of Kerala High court, and a few other very insignificant people like Tiny Tom (who had a dog and ‘loved’ him to bits but hates dogs anyway!, Oh yes, these people exist), who formed this ‘Dog Welfare Committee’ (DWC) claim to be humanitarians who are going to be the ones ‘saving’ Kerala from dogs. Let me remind you that these are the people who have been suggesting and pushing the Kerala Govt. even, to get into killing street dogs and exporting processed dog meat to countries that eat dog meat and be an Ideal Indian and distribute some to such places in India too!!!
The problem here is this: These people started this shelter with all intentions of ‘getting rid’ of these dogs (their hunger for the limelight has clearly overpowered any little sense and HEART their might just have) – ILLEGAL and really stupid !!! They hired local dog catchers who know nothing about catching a dog in the prescribed way (ABC Rules, 2001), – ILLEGAL! They got it covered all over TV, still believing that they can buy the keepers of Law off with their blood money! – ILLEGAL! They spoke about working towards the plan of exporting dog meat (with a shelter now populated by 36 dogs they caught, injured, some bleeding, and starved from the 29th of July to the 1st of August)!! – OH SO ILLEGAL !! They ignored the warning notice AWBI had directed to them via the Govt. officials responsible for maintaining law and order in the State (AWBI sent this notice on the 30th, a day after these great men inaugurated their kill shelter) – BREAKING THE LAW AGAIN!
The Animal welfare activists [whose image has been tarnished by these men through several, very insistent posts on FB about how we care ‘only’ about dogs, about how we are all non-vegetarians (WHAT?), about how we take commission from Vaccine companies for all the dog bite cases, about how we are doing all of this only for publicity and a share of the limelight (yes yes, because we are so twisted that we have put our lives, careers and family on hold JUST to be covered on Malayalam news channels and ethically compromised newspapers and not to mention the walls of many really perverted people who claim we are molesting dogs and what not!)] who stood up for the animals , were stomped all over by the members of the Dog Welfare Committee when they enquired about the dogs and their well being.
Here’s who else they have attacked – the Government. The DWC claimed that they have taken on the RESPONSIBILITY of the Government (of killing dogs?), and Animal Welfare Organizations (that is us, who are slogging it out here rescuing dogs all over, fighting for their rights)!! Now the Govt. bodies that received the AWBI notice are very much to blame as well –For not taking action against the illegal shelter that DWC set up, for not taking action against them for breaking the law, for not taking action against them for the fact that they opened this shelter in Koovapadi without permission of the panchayat even! For all those wondering where these 36 dogs caught by DWC went, Most are DEAD, some are injured and have been beaten with such cruelty that their spine is nearly broken in half and irreparable!
1. Owing to the illegality of the shelter, the Panchayat members and public at Koovapadi (where the shelter is located) disrupted the inauguration and made a big fuss about the 36 dogs coming into the shelter. Covered all over the papers, they had no choice but to agree to shift the dogs. Now it must be noted that the public made a fuss, not because they care about the dogs, but because they didn’t want to tolerate the barking and howling of those poor injured dogs. The Panchayat members who opposed the movement also have an agenda, they even held a District level meeting with all panchayat heads who were all ready to put the ‘dog meat’ trade plan in action!!
2. DWC took a days time to shift the dogs from there. They now claim that the local protesters took over their truck with the dogs, and went and dumped them in someplace they have no idea where about!
Now our team went searching for these dogs yesterday, we found some dead, some starved. The injured one we found is under treatment. She is severely wounded, has a broken spine and was bleeding from her mouth! This is what these monsters have done to our dogs! And then they give a press release saying they are not the ones who dumped the dogs! What? really? Is that the best excuse you could come up with?.
