Lucy is one of my favourites in Varkala, she is a couple of years old and has survived killings and beatings because she is a clever girl with good hiding skills. She is a tough cookie, never try to take her food if you are a dog, and she is always starving! But tourists are okay, they provide food,
and she greets you with a tail whirling like a propeller. She even knows her name, if she is around I hardly need to whisper her name to get her coming.
I have treated her for mange several times, but there are always spots left. In December 2015 she was severely beaten by people, injured her leg and she started walking sideways which is a sign of neurological damage. But she managed to pull through again, a real survivor!
I guess she has had litters of puppies before and we really wanted to help this sweet girl avoid new ones. So we planned to get her sterilised in December 2015, but when we wanted to get her, she was gone. Must have had a hunch!? And the next time I saw her she turns out to be pregnant again… So hopefully next time Lucy ?! I try to find her every day to make sure she gets a good feed, but in the last few days, she has disappeared again. Guess she is in one of her hiding spots with her new puppies! I just hope I see her again before I have to return home.
