India becomes the first cruelty-free cosmetics zone in South Asia.
A few months after implementation of a national ban on cruel cosmetics testing in India’s labs, the Government of India passed an order banning imports of cosmetics that have been tested on animals into India and this making India the first cruelty-free cosmetics zone in South Asia and an example for other nations to follow.
Until now the European Union Nations, Israel and Norway were the only countries with a near-total ban on the sale of animal-tested cosmetics.
This was achieved only due to tireless efforts of Humane Society International-India’s (HSI) “Be Cruelty-Free” campaigners Jayasimsha Geethaprabhu, Alokparna Sengupta and others.
