Maya is a tiny little brown street dog loved by most people around Reji’s beauty parlour, where she hangs out most of the day. A little diva that eats like a bird and loves all tourists. If you are there for a treatment she keeps you company and maybe try to get a biscuit.
But during summer 2015 she was brutally stabbed with a knife by an unknown attacker, this little girl pulled through it well despite the ordeal.
She is 1-2 years old but has already had two litters of puppies. The last one with 4 puppies was summer 2015, it was a very hard time for her when people took them from her and they vanished, Maya was grieving a long time.
We were intending to have her sterilised in March but the veterinarians let us down. So in December 2015, she sat nicely in my lap in the car to Kovalam. She was sterilised by a good vet and now never has to endure such trouble again.
The first two nights after the operation she slept in my room, quickly settled herself into my bed, no sleeping on the floor for this girl!
Now she is back in her beauty parlour, happily greeting tourists again, and she won’t need to worry about more puppies!
